Elderly man stabbed in chest during row over fan in HK care home
A violent altercation broke out at a care home on Tai Hang Street in Yuen Long, Hong Kong, resulting in one resident being stabbed in the chest with a fruit knife.
The incident occurred at around 11 a.m. on Jan. 17. According to reports, a 68-year-old male resident, surnamed Mak, attempted to turn on a fan in the hallway, which angered another resident, a 60-year-old man surnamed Ngan. The disagreement quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, Mak reportedly grabbed a 20cm fruit knife and stabbed Ngan in the chest. Staff at the care home immediately called the police. Emergency medical responders arrived at the scene and transported the injured man to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment.
The police arrested Mak on suspicion of assault causing injury.
