During a press briefing before the Executive Council meeting, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee announced today (Jan. 14) that the Hong Kong SAR Government has reached an agreement with the Saudi Arabian government. Starting tomorrow (Jan. 15), Hong Kong SAR passport holders arriving at designated ports in Saudi Arabia will be eligible for a visa-on-arrival arrangement, including multiple-entry visas with a stay of up to 90 days. At the same time, the visa-free stay duration for Saudi Arabian nationals visiting Hong Kong will be extended from 30 days to 90 days.
Both measures will take effect on the same day, and further details will be announced by the Immigration Department shortly.
John Lee further noted that this means Hong Kong SAR passport holders can now enjoy visa-on-arrival or visa-free access to all six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)—Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman.
