A hill fire which had been burning in Pat Heung since Saturday (Jan. 11) afternoon has been brought under control.
The Fire Services Department made the announcement on Sunday morning (Jan. 12). Firefighters are now battling two fire lines of 20 and five meters, while the Government Flying Service is also water bombing the site.
The blaze near Kai Kung Leng, literally meaning Rooster Ridge, once stretched to 80 meters from one end to the other.
Emergency services first received reports about the fire at around 5.30 pm on Saturday.
A Government Flying Service helicopter was deployed later that evening to extract two hikers trapped inside Lam Tsuen Country Park due to the fire and strong winds. They were both evacuated safely.
