The Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong, will depart for a visit to Shanghai and Suzhou today (Jan. 12), to strengthen Hong Kong's exchanges and cooperation in innovation and technology (I&T) with Shanghai and Suzhou.
During his visit, Professor Sun will focus on inspecting the construction and development of science and technology parks in Shanghai and Suzhou, and visit local key scientific research institutes and facilities, accelerators, as well as a number of I&T enterprises. He will also meet with and engage in exchanges with leaders and experts of local universities and high-tech enterprises. In addition, he will pay courtesy calls on government leaders there.
Professor Sun will also deliver a keynote speech at the innovative development exchange seminar and annual dinner organized by the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
The Commissioner for Industry (Innovation and Technology), Dr Ge Ming, will join the visit.
Professor Sun will return to Hong Kong in the evening on January 15. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Ms Lillian Cheong, will be the Acting Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry.
