China's visa-free: A glamorous encounter between South Korean tourists and Shanghai's wealth
During the period from Nov. 8, 2024, to Dec. 31, 2025, South Korean holders of ordinary passports who come to China for business, sightseeing and tourism, visiting relatives and friends, and transit for no more than 15 days, will be allowed to enter the country visa-free.
After China's visa-free policy, Shanghai's Wukang Road has become a new destination for Korean tourists.
A special "show" was staged here, with well-dressed South Korean tourists on the one hand, and the Shanghai residents ready to "show off their wealth" on the other.
Shanghai tycoons drove their luxury cars to take up space early in the morning, and it's said that cars under RMB 5 million were too embarrassed to display.
So the following scene took place:
The streets of Shanghai were filled with luxury cars, and Shanghai people even drove open-topped cars wrapped in down jackets on a cold day; South Korean tourists were snapping photos with their cell phones in amazement.
A netizen joked, "After the South Koreans came, the biological clock of the Shanghai tycoons are normal, used to sleep to wake up naturally, now they have to get up early to go to the parking lot, like going to work!"
Some netizens said that those South Koreans who have always been prejudiced against China have seen what "China's prowess" means this time.
"The fashionable men and women on the streets of Shanghai are not inferior to that of South Korea; as for those luxury cars, it is even more eye-opening for South Korean tourists," they said.
