The three astronauts from China's Shenzhou-18 crewed mission-Ye Guangfu, Li Cong, and Li Guangsu-held their first press conference on Wednesday (Jan. 8), two months after returning from space.
All crew members reported good physical and mental health, with their muscle strength, endurance, and cardiopulmonary function returning to pre-flight levels.
Launched on April 25, 2024, the Shenzhou-18 spacecraft returned to Earth on Nov. 4 after a record-setting 192 days in orbit, marking the longest single crewed mission by Chinese astronauts.
During their time in space, the crew conducted numerous experiments in various fields, including microgravity physics, space material science, and space medicine, and completed two extravehicular activities.
Mission commander Ye Guangfu has become the first Chinese astronaut to spend over a year in space, setting a new record for the longest duration of stay in orbit.
"I am honored to witness and participate in the significant progress in China's manned space missions with my teammates," Ye stated at the press conference held at the Astronaut Center of China in Beijing.
The crew will begin regular training again once they complete all necessary health assessments.
