
Toyota's research unit is set to invest in the Japanese startup Interstellar Technologies (IST) to support the mass production of its rockets, as announced by the world's largest carmaker group on Tuesday (Jan. 7).
This move marks an expansion of Toyota's involvement in the space sector.
Woven by Toyota, a subsidiary focused on developing a "city of the future" in Japan utilizing autonomous driving technology, will invest approximately US$44.4 million in IST during the first close of its Series F funding round.
