The three bus companies increased their fares today (Jan. 5), with the new fares taking effect at 2:30 am. The government estimates that after implementing the new fares, about 80% of passengers will have to pay no more than 50 cents per trip, and about 95% of passengers will have to pay no more than HK$1 per trip.

For cross-harbor routes, the full fare of Citybus Route 969 (Tin Shui Wai Town Centre to/from Moreton Terrace in Causeway Bay) has increased to HK$27.3, which is HK$1.6 more expensive than the current fare of HK$25.7; the full fare of Citybus Route 101 (Kennedy Town to/from Kwun Tong) has increased to HK$12.9 instead of the previous fare of HK$12.1; the full fare of Citybus Route 78 (Wong Chuk Hang (Nam Long Shan) to/from Wah Kwai Estates) is HK$4.2.

Bus companies have posted notices at bus stops, bus termini and public transport interchanges to inform passengers of the fare adjustments.
