
Two bus companies, Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) and Citybus, recently submitted applications to the government to adjust their fares. KMB applied for a fare increase of 6.5%, while Citybus requested an increase of approximately 9.5%.
According to reports, the Executive Council approved these applications today (Dec. 17), allowing the bus companies to raise fares starting Jan. 5 next year. KMB will increase fares by about 4.3%, Citybus by approximately 7.5%, and New Lantao Bus by 6.5%.
Last year, KMB and Citybus also raised their fares, with KMB increasing by 3.9% and Citybus by 4.9%.
