Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan has been in office for a month. Today (Jan. 4), she expressed heartfelt gratitude to her colleagues in the bureau and its four departments for their full cooperation, hoping to work together to seize new opportunities in 2025.
Looking ahead to 2025, Chan mentioned that several initiatives are planned for rollout.
"This year, there will be a focus on improving aviation infrastructure. Specifically, in collaboration with the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), they aim to expand the 'Airport City' development scale by more than double, transforming it into a world-leading new landmark."
The AAHK will soon announce the development outline for this expansion, she noted.
Regarding land transport, Chan noted that the long-awaited "Southbound travel for Guangdong cars" initiative is expected to reveal details this year. Additionally, there will be efforts to strengthen local and cross-boundary road connections to further enhance road connectivity for cross-border passenger and freight transport in northern Hong Kong.
"This will enable residents and travelers to conveniently access major land crossings through an optimized road network."
