According to a news release from the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) today (Dec. 31), officers at the Man Kam To Control Point have recently intercepted 620.8 kg of smuggled live lobsters in the import cargo channel.
During an inspection of a cargo truck at the border, customs officers discovered the unreported live lobsters hidden deep within 37 foam boxes in the truck's cargo area. The case has now been handed over to the customs anti-smuggling department for further investigation.
Customs officials remind the public that, smuggling occurs when individuals conceal or misreport goods to evade customs supervision, particularly when transporting items that are prohibited or restricted from entering or exiting the country, or goods that are subject to duties. Such actions will result in legal liability.
