The Development Bureau (DEVB) launched the public consultation exercise today (Dec. 31) for the proposals to amend the Buildings Ordinance (BO), with proposed amendments in three aspects, namely expediting building inspection and repair, rationalizing the policy on handling unauthorized building works, and enhancing construction safety.

The target is to introduce an amendment bill in the first half of 2026.

The DEVB will arrange briefing sessions for the relevant stakeholders during the two-month consultation period to gather views. It also welcomes views from the public or organizations on the proposals to amend the BO via email, post, or online form on or before Feb. 8 next year.
