Recently, Tongcheng Travel released a report for Beijing's tourism consumption in 2024, indicating that the Beijing tourism market in 2024 is thriving, driven by both domestic and inbound tourism.

Data from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism shows a remarkable rebound in inbound tourism, which is a highlight of Beijing's tourism consumption in 2024. From January to October 2024, Beijing received 3.17 million inbound tourists, a year-on-year increase of 198.8%, maintaining its position as the top inbound tourism destination in China for 2024, with Hong Kong being the primary source of inbound tourists.

The report reveals international flight booking data from the Tongcheng Travel platform, ranking Beijing as the most popular inbound tourism destination in China for 2024. The top ten source markets for inbound tourism to Beijing are Hong Kong, the United States, Russia, Taiwan, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. In 2024, with the continuous optimization of visa exemptions and visa-free policies, Beijing's inbound tourism market has accelerated. The top ten source markets with the highest growth in visitor numbers include Spain, Malaysia, Vietnam, Italy, Indonesia, Thailand, Russia, Singapore, France, and the Philippines. Countries like Spain, Malaysia, Italy, Indonesia, and Thailand have notably benefited from improved visa policies.

In 2024, Beijing has targeted the interests and preferences of key inbound tourist demographics, accelerating the iteration of inbound tourism products around themes such as "capital, ancient charm, Olympic city, and Beijing's central axis." Efforts have also been made to enhance services for inbound tourists in areas like accommodation, shopping, payment, and travel bookings, garnering increasing praise from inbound visitors.

The report data indicates that Beijing's cultural and tourism consumption continues to lead the nation in 2024. Notably, iconic cultural heritage sites like the Forbidden City and the Great Wall remain highly popular, while attractions such as theme parks, natural scenery, and zoos maintain high popularity throughout the year. Relevant search data from the Tongcheng Travel platform shows that the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Prince Gong's Mansion, Bell and Drum Towers, and Badaling Great Wall are among the most sought-after cultural heritage sites in Beijing. Ticket booking data indicates that following its successful application for heritage status in 2024, the "Beijing Central Axis" has rapidly gained attention, becoming the largest "IP" in Beijing tourism. Key landmarks like Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, Bell and Drum Towers, and the Temple of Heaven have become must-visit spots for both domestic and international travelers.
