China Eastern Airlines welcomes 10th C919 aircraft
On Dec. 31, China Eastern Airlines took delivery of its 10th C919 aircraft, marking a significant milestone as the world's first operator of this domestically produced airliner.
This is the sixth C919 received by China Eastern in 2024, expanding its fleet to a total of 10 aircraft, which is currently the largest C919 fleet globally.
The C919 took off at 9:59 am from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and arrived at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport at 10:14 am to officially join the airline's fleet.
As the inaugural global user of the C919, China Eastern has accumulated a total order of 105 aircraft. Starting Jan. 1, 2025, the airline will operate round-trip flights between Shanghai Hongqiao and Hong Kong using the C919, marking the commencement of commercial operations for this domestically manufactured aircraft on regional routes. China Eastern will also become the first airline to operate regular commercial flights with the C919 to Hong Kong, making it the ninth city served by the C919 in its commercial operations.
