Prototype of CR450 bullet train debuts, with world's fastest operational speed at 400 km per hour

The CR450 high-speed train prototype is unveiled for the first time today (Dec. 29), marking a significant breakthrough in the "CR450 Science and Technology Innovation Project". In the future, once the CR450 train is put into commercial operation, it will achieve an operational speed of 400 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest high-speed train in the world.

Since 2018, under the organization of China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., a joint innovation team has been formed from domestic research institutes, universities, and enterprises to explore the technology for commercial operations at 400 kilometers per hour.

After seven years of hard work, the CR450 train has achieved remarkable results: it is faster, with a test speed of 450 kilometers per hour and an operational speed of 400 kilometers per hour; it is safer, with shorter braking distances and better operational stability, maintaining a braking distance similar to that of trains operating at 350 kilometers per hour; it is more energy-efficient, with overall running resistance reduced by 22% and a weight reduction of 10%; it offers greater comfort, with interior noise levels lowered by 2 decibels and an increase of 4% in passenger service space; and it is more intelligent, with comprehensive upgrades in areas such as train operation and control, driver-smart interaction, safety monitoring, and intelligent passenger services.
