Public hospital A&E sees 6,000+ daily peak, HA enacts special measures for high seasons
The Hospital Authority's Chief Executive Manager, Lee Lap-yip, said today (Dec. 24) that recently, there were about 5,000 attendances at the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Departments of public hospitals every day. The number of A&E admissions has been on an upward trend this month, exceeding 6,000, and has continued to exceed 1,000 per day.
Lee pointed out that HA has already activated special measures during peak demand periods, including reintroducing a special refund arrangement for A&E departments, under which the public can automatically apply for refunds through HA's application program "HA Go".
General outpatient and Chinese medicine outpatient services will also be strengthened during the long holidays, with a view to reducing the number of A&E attendances by 300 to 500 per day, Lee added.
