Four-vehicle pileup in Sai Wan: Taxi crushed between trucks, driver hospitalized in critical condition
A serious traffic accident occurred in Sai Wan this afternoon (Dec. 23), leaving a taxi driver critically injured.
The incident took place at approximately 2:01 p.m. on Des Voeux Road West, near No. 458, involving a four-vehicle collision. The crash included a medium goods vehicle, a light goods van, and two taxis, one of which was crushed between the trucks.
Emergency responders arrived promptly and rescued the taxi driver, who was found trapped beneath one of the trucks. The driver was unconscious at the scene and was immediately rushed to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment.
According to eyewitness accounts, the taxi caught in the middle was severely damaged, with its front crumpled and its rear smashed.
The Transport Department reported traffic disruptions in the area, with partial lane closures in both directions on Des Voeux Road West near Hill Road. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes as the incident has caused heavy congestion. Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
