Sun Dong emphasizes localized innovation for future growth in I&T sector

Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry, Prof. Sun Dong, chaired the fifth meeting of the Committee on Innovation, Technology & Industry Development today, focusing on key initiatives outlined in the 2024 Policy Address.

During the meeting, members received updates regarding the initiatives relevant to the Innovation, Technology & Industry Bureau, as well as details on the Development Outline for the Hong Kong Park within the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science & Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone.

Members engaged in discussions about the proposed measures and the overall development of the innovation and technology (I&T) sector. Representatives from the Commerce & Economic Development Bureau also presented the "patent box" tax incentive, gathering feedback from committee members.

Prof. Sun emphasized the importance of developing I&T and new productive forces tailored to local conditions as essential investments for the future. He noted that these efforts are crucial for facilitating societal progress and improving the livelihoods of citizens.

He reaffirmed the Government's commitment to implementing the relevant measures from the Policy Address promptly.

The development outline, released last month, establishes the strategic direction and goals for Hong Kong Park, emphasizing a top-level design approach to guide its development. Prof. Sun expressed the Government's intention to collaborate with all sectors of the community to promote the high-quality development of the Hong Kong Park in the Loop.
