BYD to launch operations in South Korea with local dealerships
According to South Korean media reports, BYD Korea officially announced on Dec. 17 that it has signed contracts with six local dealers to begin operations in South Korea in January 2024.
The selected dealerships include DT Networks, Samcheolli EV, Harmony Automobile, Vision Mobility, GENB Mobility, and SS Motors. BYD has now entered 99 countries and regions worldwide, all using a dealership model.
Cho In-cheol, a representative of BYD's passenger sector in Korea, stated that the company's primary consideration is "the ability to provide the highest level of service to local customers." Detailed information about regional showrooms and service centers opening will be announced later.
BYD is expected to launch models such as the compact hatchback "Dolphin" and the mid-sized sedan "Seal" in the local market. According to BYD representatives, certification for the ATTO 3 (known as Yuan PLUS in China) has been completed, and the company aims to officially announce its entry into the South Korean market and begin sales on January 15, 2025.
Additionally, BYD entered the Japanese passenger car market in January last year, introducing several electric vehicles, including the Seal, Dolphin, and ATTO 3 (Yuan PLUS). To establish a foothold in Japan, BYD has implemented several measures, including building its dealership network and forming agency agreements with well-known local dealers and auto parts retailers.
