EPD calls for natural Christmas tree recycling
To encourage the recycling and repurposing of garden waste, the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) is urging the public and businesses to participate in the 2024-25 Natural Christmas Trees Recycling Programme. Citizens are encouraged to recycle their unwanted natural Christmas trees, which will be transformed into various recycled products, such as mulch and wood chips, at Y·PARK.
A spokesperson stated that this initiative is limited to natural Christmas trees. Before sending the trees for recycling, individuals must remove decorations, lights, plastic bases, and tape to ensure the recycling process is not hindered. Plastic Christmas trees and decorations can be stored for reuse, promoting waste reduction, while smaller plants, such as poinsettias, can be replanted.
