Journalist's Hands-On Experiences | Cultural fusion: Malaysia-China trade exhibition showcases cutting-edge products
By Kiki Zhang
This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. The Malaysia-China Summit 2024 was held at the International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur from Dec. 17 to Dec. 19.
After the Summit, I ventured to the China trade exhibition on the 2nd floor of MITEC to explore. It was a delightful surprise to encounter items making their market way to Malaysia that were truly unexpected.
The amazing shoulder bag? An incredible shoulder bag adorned with an electronic screen at the forefront, a fusion of fashion and technology.
Moreover, I stumbled upon eco-friendly hotel furniture designed for space efficiency, which I think is a practical solution tailor-made for Hong Kong.
Have you ever come across the exquisite Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage of Lacquer? This ancient art form beautifully weaves traditional Chinese culture into contemporary artwork and home furnishings, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of China's heritage.
Yiwu's manufacturing sector was also well represented at the fair, with handmade crafts, snacks, stationery, toys, and other items.
This trade exhibition underlines the depth and breadth of the longstanding and fruitful diplomatic relationship between China and Malaysia, reflecting a shared commitment to cultural exchange, innovation, and economic cooperation.
