HKO: Winter Solstice sees low of 14 degrees, cool morning for Christmas
The Hong Kong Observatory stated today (Dec. 19) that the northeasterly monsoon is bringing generally clear and very dry weather to Guangdong. Hong Kong was quite cool this morning, with temperatures in the urban areas dropping to around 13 to 14 degrees, slightly lower in the New Territories. Additionally, a low-pressure area near the southern Philippines is causing unstable weather in that region.
The nine-day weather forecast indicates that the Observatory expects the urban areas to drop to around 13 degrees Celsius on Friday morning (Dec. 20). Saturday (Dec. 21) will bring cool weather for the Winter Solstice, with temperatures remaining at a minimum of 14 degrees. As for Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) and Christmas Day next Tuesday, mornings will remain cool, with temperatures rising to 15 to 20 degrees.
