HKUST hires most popular AI lecturer as anchor to report on university achievements
Following the first batch of "AI Lecturers" in Asia, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has hired Fiona, who was voted the "Most Popular AI Lecturer" by students, as the University's first AI anchor to report on the University's developments, research achievements and major events. Fiona has been featured on-campus television, and other lecturers have joined the streamers.
Spearheaded by the Global Engagement and Communications Office at HKUST, the team has collaborated with Pan Hui, Chair Professor of Computational Media and Arts at HKUST (GZ) and HKUST Emerging Interdisciplinary Chair Professor, and his students since the launch of the AI Lecturer.
Pan Hui said that because the expressions and movements of these AI lecturers are more natural and realistic than those of previous technologies, more than ninety percent of the students surveyed hope they will continue to teach. The team is working on the launch of AI Instructor 2.0 and introducing a Q&A function to further improve teaching interactivity.
