The aviation data company OAG has released its annual report, listing the world's top ten busiest routes based on round-trip flight bookings from January to December 2024.
The Hong Kong (HKG) to Taipei (TPE) route has reclaimed the top spot after previously ranking first in 2019.
The second busiest route is Cairo (CAI) to Jeddah (JED) in Saudi Arabia. New York (JFK) to London (LHR) is the only transatlantic route to make the list.
OAG noted that many of the seven Asia-Pacific routes on the list have not yet returned to 2019 capacity levels. In contrast, the two Middle Eastern routes have seen a significant increase in capacity. The Cairo to Jeddah route has seen a substantial increase of 62% in available seats compared to 2019.
