
Many tourists visiting Hokkaido, Japan enjoy buying "Shiroi Koibito" (literally "white lover") chocolates as souvenirs.
Last Thursday (Dec. 12), the manufacturer of "Shiroi Koibito", Ishiya Co., Ltd. announced that due to poor packaging of a chocolate product, there is a possibility of mold growth, and they decided to voluntarily recall over 20,000 items.
According to the Japanese media, based on consumer recall information websites, over 20,000 qualifying products were sold in Hokkaido, Tokyo, Osaka, and other areas between Nov. 1 and Dec. 11.
Ishiya stated that they will improve packaging management in the future to enhance quality and apologized to customers and partners for any inconvenience caused.
