
A theft onboard a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hong Kong has led to the arrest of a 61-year-old man. Police in the Airport District received a report on Dec. 13 regarding an alleged theft on the flight.
The incident occurred when a male passenger noticed his backpack, stored in the overhead compartment, had been taken by another man. Upon retrieving his bag, he discovered that his cash was missing, prompting him to suspect theft.
Following an initial investigation, airport police arrested a 61-year-old man from the mainland on suspicion of theft. Authorities revealed that the suspect allegedly stole approximately 10 million Vietnamese dong (equivalent to around HK$3,060). The man is currently in custody for further investigation. The case has been handed over to the criminal investigation team of Lantau Police District for follow-up.
