Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee at Zhongnanhai's Yingtai to hear his report on the current situation in HK and the work of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government on Dec. 13.

In the media session in Beijing after reporting to President Xi, Lee emphasized the central government's detailed understanding of HK's needs and its proactive approach to supporting the city's development. He highlighted the recent resumption of "multiple-entry" endorsement for Shenzhen residents visiting HK, stressing the importance of ensuring HK's capacity to handle the increased flow of visitors. Lee noted that additional supportive policies will also be introduced in a systematic and orderly manner.

Regarding the recent appointment of two new principal officials in the HKSAR government, Lee clarified that the appointments were made with prior approval from the Central Government. He expressed confidence in their leadership abilities and called for innovative initiatives, particularly in transportation, logistics, culture, sports, and tourism, to create new opportunities and deliver tangible results.

John Lee revealed that he and Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr. Chan Kwok-ki, will meet with the leaders of the country's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security to discuss talent cultivation and integration. Lee emphasized the importance of nurturing technology-focused talent, aligning with the goals outlined in HK's latest Policy Address, which prioritizes the establishment of the Committee on Education, Technology and Talents chaired by Chan.
