Speaking at a radio program today (Dec. 11), the Chief Executive, John Lee, said that the San Tin Technopole and the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park in the Loop will enable Hong Kong and Shenzhen to build the world's most high-end and avant-garde scientific research leading place and demonstration zone, attracting talents to carry out scientific research in Hong Kong.
Lee said that Hong Kong has no restriction on the flow of capital, data and people, and believed that the three advantages will be able to attract many people to engage in scientific research in Hong Kong.
Lee pointed out that technology was a competitiveness that all places must have, and without technology, they would be eliminated.
He said the Committee on Education, Technology and Talents, chaired by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Chan Kwok-ki, aims to ensure that education, science and technology and human resources can complement each other and emphasize the element of science and technology, and the committee will also study how to attract a concentration of top international talents.
With five top 100 universities in Hong Kong, Hong Kong has a good foundation for scientific research and can achieve basic research and development in the upstream; in the downstream, the manufacturing industries in the cities in the Greater Bay Area are very strong; it is believed that if Hong Kong can achieve technology transfer in the midstream and strengthen the midstream ecosystem, technological development will become more mature, Lee added.
