
The renowned writer Chiung Yao aged 86 was found deceased in her home in Tamsui on Dec. 4. Her family held a farewell ceremony in Taipei at 8 a.m. today (Dec. 11). Her white coffin, surrounded by flowers, was transported to the crematorium.

The flower burial was simple yet solemn. Her son scattered her ashes in the designated area. After the staff covered it with tiles, the family bowed three times in respect. Subsequently, her daughter-in-law began offering flowers, and family members took turns scattering petals, with actress Ruby Lin Xin-ru also joining in the tribute.

During her lifetime, Chiung Yao visited her hometown in Hunan Province. Upon learning of her passing, local fans initiated mourning to pay their respects to their beloved writer. Starting from Dec. 7, a mourning event was held in Hengyang, Hunan Province. Each person held a bouquet and queued up to bid farewell to her.
