Romance novelist Chiung Yao dead at her home in Tamsui District, New Taipei City
Famous romance novelist 86-year-old Chiung Yao was found dead at her home in Tamsui District, New Taipei City, this afternoon (Dec. 4), leaving behind a suicide note.
According to media reports in Taiwan, Chiung's 63-year-old son stated that his mother had left a note and told her secretary to come home to check at noon. Upon entering the house, the secretary discovered her and immediately notified emergency personnel.
However, when paramedics arrived, they found that Chiung had no signs of breathing or heartbeat and was dead.
Chiung Yao, whose real name was Chen Che, was born in 1938, famous for her romance novels. Her works, such as Plum Blossom Scar and My Fair Princess have been widely acclaimed and adapted into films and television dramas.
