The helicopter charter service between Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport, which will be the first cross-boundary helicopter commercial service between Hong Kong and Guangdong, is of great significance to China South Airlines.
Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong said in a post on social media that apart from emerging drones, traditional helicopter services are also important to the development of the low-altitude economy. On the development of cross-boundary helicopter services, the government has been actively liaising with the relevant mainland authorities and encouraging operators to launch helicopter services connecting Hong Kong with other cities in the Greater Bay Area as soon as possible.
Wong pointed out that with the support of the Civil Aviation Department, China South Airlines successfully completed a test flight between Hong Kong and Guangzhou in September this year. This time, China South plans to operate a cross- boundary helicopter service between Guangzhou and Hong Kong in the form of chartered flights, which will take only 45 minutes to complete, providing great convenience to travelers.
Wong said that the HKSAR government will continue to liaise closely with the helicopter service operators and the relevant Mainland authorities to promote the steady development of cross-boundary helicopter services between Hong Kong and the Mainland, to strengthen the air traffic links within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and contribute positively to the interconnectivity and overall development of the GBA.
