S. Korean interior minister's resignation accepted: 'Return to being an ordinary citizen'
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol Sunday (Dec. 8) accepted the resignation of Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min.
Lee Sang-min said that he deeply realized that he had not fulfilled the responsibility of serving the people and supporting the president, and would "return to being an ordinary citizen".
South Korea's largest opposition party, the Democratic Party, reported on Dec. 7 that it had submitted a motion of impeachment against Lee Sang-min, the minister of administration and security, to the National Assembly case section in the morning of the same day.
The Democratic Party said that Lee was suspected of planning an illegal martial law, obstructing the normal conduct of the National Assembly, and advocating an illegal martial law.
