Over 30,000 public housing units to be supplied annually in next five years: Michael Wong
Hong Kong has the confidence to bid farewell to substandard subdivided flats, Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong Wai-lun said.
"Over 30,000 public housing units will be supplied annually in the next five years, totaling around 189,000 units."
Wong attended an event dedicated to bidding farewell to substandard subdivided flats and mentioned that the government is currently conducting public consultations on the regulatory system for Basic Housing Units.
He urged citizens to provide their opinions, noting that the government has received many views, including concerns about a significant reduction in the number of subdivided units, potential substantial rent increases, and the possibility of people becoming homeless due to the crackdown on substandard flats.
However, he believes that there are always more solutions than difficulties, and Legislative Council members have also expressed support for the government's proposed plan.
