Seoul Metro conductor urgently needs to use restroom, causing delays for 125 trains
Last month, a train conductor of the Seoul Metro Line 2 urgently needed to use the restroom, causing subsequent trains to be delayed.
According to South Korean media reports, the conductor used the restroom for about four minutes and then immediately returned. However, this led to the complete suspension of subsequent trains, resulting in a cumulative delay of over 20 minutes beyond the normal operating time.
The Seoul Transportation Corporation stated that although the total delay time was around 20 minutes, the average delay per train varied between one to five minutes, so passengers did not feel the impact of the delays. Passengers were able to board the next train without significant inconvenience.
It's known that currently Line 2 of the Seoul Metro operates under a system where both the driver and the conductor are involved. With a dual-operation system, the driver is positioned at the front of the train, while the conductor sits at the rear. Since the trains run continuously for two to three hours from departure to destination and do not have restrooms, the conductor can only choose to use the restroom in the station.
