At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' regular press conference on Dec. 3, a reporter asked whether China would hold military drills near Taiwan after Lai Ching-te returned to Taiwan from his "visit" to the Pacific island states.
Lin Jian responded, "Regarding the issue you mentioned, I would like to emphasize here that the Taiwan issue is the core of China's core interests, China's determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity is unshakeable, and we are paying close attention to the development of the situation."
