Apollo Go: HK's first autonomous driving license granted, kicking off global business expansion
Apollo Go has recently been granted Hong Kong's first pilot autonomous vehicle license, which allows it to conduct road tests in specific areas of Hong Kong, with the first phase of testing to begin before the end of this year.
Apollo Go responded on Dec. 2 that "Hong Kong, as Asia's financial and innovation frontier, is committed to building a leading innovation ecosystem. Apollo Go looks forward to bringing world-leading AI and autonomous vehicle technologies to more countries and regions, and providing more users with green, low-carbon, safe and comfortable autonomous vehicle mobility services. As such, we have already kicked off our global-oriented business expansion."
The license granted by the Transport Department of Hong Kong is the first batch of right-hand drive test licenses obtained by Apollo Go in left-hand drive areas, which will be an important part of Apollo Go's globalization. In addition, according to mainland media reports, on December 4, Baidu Apollo will also release version 10.0 of its automated driving open platform for global users in Hong Kong.
