With the approval of the State Council, the National Immigration Administration of the People's Republic of China has announced new travel policies for residents of Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone. These policies aim to facilitate travel to Hong Kong and Macao, offering more flexibility for eligible residents.

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Lam Sai-hung stated on social media that in preparation for the incoming travelers, he has requested the Transport Department (TD) to maintain close communication with various transport operators to ensure that the necessary transport arrangements are ready at the Shenzen Bay, Lok Ma Chau, and Hong Kong's other boundary crossings.

Regarding rail services, he also reminded the MTR Corporation to closely monitor passenger flow along the High-Speed Rail and East Rail Line to improve arrangements and meet passenger travel needs, aiming to provide visitors with a better travel experience in Hong Kong.

Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Kevin Yeung noted that individual travelers are a key driving force for the development of Hong Kong's tourism and related industries. He believes that restoring the new policies for Shenzhen residents and expanding it to include holders of residence permits from outside Shenzhen, will significantly increase the number of visitors to Hong Kong.

He added that the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau will continue to innovate in achieving the vision of "tourism is everywhere in Hong Kong" by leveraging community strengths, opening up unique and diverse tourist hotspots, and expanding in-depth travel experiences.

"We will also work with the Hong Kong Tourism Board to enhance promotion in Shenzhen, allowing travelers to discover the advantages of visiting Hong Kong while also driving economic development."
