European Parliament openly tramples on HK's spirit of rule of law: OCMFA

In response to the European Parliament's erroneous resolution on Hong Kong passed on November 28, which openly interfered with the handling of Hong Kong national security cases, the spokesperson for the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong (OCMFA) strongly condemned and firmly opposed it.

According to the OCMFA, the actions of the European Parliament blatantly interfered with Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs, openly trampled on the rule of law spirit, and staged a crude political farce, which is completely unacceptable. The spokesperson emphasized:

1. The European Parliament's erroneous resolution on Hong Kong is pure nonsense and completely inconsistent with the current situation in Hong Kong. The enactment and implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law and Safeguarding National Security Ordinance fully comply with the spirit of the rule of law and international practices, fully respect and safeguard human rights, serving as laws to ensure security, development, and livelihood, allowing Hong Kong to bid farewell to a state of turmoil and unrest, finally ushering in the best period for full economic development and growth. Currently, Hong Kong continues to rank at the forefront of authoritative international rankings in terms of security, rule of law, business, and finance, and the number of visitors to the city is steadily increasing. Funds, businesses, and talented individuals from various countries continue to gather, demonstrating the confidence of the international community in Hong Kong.

2. Those unscrupulous politicians in the European Parliament not only have no intention of promoting the development of Hong Kong-EU relations but instead repeatedly fabricate erroneous Hong Kong-related resolutions under the guise of so-called "democracy" and "human rights", openly interfering with the handling of national security cases, and even threaten sanctions against Hong Kong, which is baseless and intolerable. This further exposes the hypocritical and double standards of the EU politicians. The intimidation and threats from these unscrupulous politicians in the European Parliament are like striking a rock with an egg — they can never stop the historical trend of Hong Kong's prosperity and stability, nor shake the strong public opinion of all Hong Kong citizens united in safeguarding the city. In the end, they will only bring disgrace upon themselves and end up shooting themselves in the foot.

3. Hong Kong is a part of China, and Hong Kong affairs should not be meddled with by external forces. The Chinese government's determination to uphold national sovereignty, security, and development interests is unwavering, as is the commitment to fully and accurately implement the "one country, two systems" policy and maintain the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong. We have the strong determination, firm will, and powerful capabilities to thwart any form of external interference. We warn those unscrupulous politicians in the European Parliament to immediately abandon their ideological biases, cease their futile political manipulations, and refrain from interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs in any form.
