Mainland residents to enjoy easier access to HK and Macao with multi-entry visas
With the approval of the State Council, the National Immigration Administration of the People's Republic of China has announced new travel policies for residents of Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone. These policies aim to facilitate travel to Hong Kong and Macao, offering more flexibility for eligible residents.
Key Details of the New Policies:
"Multiple-Entry Visa" for Hong Kong Travel in Shenzhen
Starting December 1, 2024, Shenzhen residents with household registration or residence permits can apply for a "multiple-entry visa" for travel to Hong Kong. Under this policy, residents will be allowed unlimited trips to Hong Kong within one year, with each stay not exceeding 7 days.
"Once-a-Week Visa" for Macao Travel in Zhuhai
Starting January 1, 2025, Zhuhai residents with household registration can apply for a "once-a-week visa" for travel to Macao. This policy allows residents to visit Macao once per calendar week within a year, with each stay lasting no more than 7 days.
"Multiple-Entry Visas" for Macao Travel in the Hengqin Cooperation Zone
Starting January 1, 2025, residents with household registration or residence permits in the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone can apply for a "multiple-entry visa" for travel to Macao. Under this policy, residents may make unlimited trips to Macao within one year, with each stay not exceeding 7 days.
Application Process:
Eligible residents of Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and the Hengqin Cooperation Zone (excluding government employees and active-duty military personnel) can submit their applications through local exit-entry administration offices of the public security bureau. Applications can be made in person at manual service counters or through self-service machines available at these offices.
Additionally, starting December 1, 2024, the Shenzhen Exit-Entry Administration will no longer accept applications for the "once-a-week visa" to Hong Kong. However, previously issued permits will remain valid until their expiration date.
