Alpha Lau to promote HK as gateway to GBA in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur
The Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), Ms Alpha Lau, has commenced her duty visit to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur today (November 3) as part of the latest efforts to promote Hong Kong's business opportunities.
During the visit, Ms Lau will meet with potential companies from various sectors, including business and professional services, creative industries, family offices, financial services, innovation and technology, and tourism and hospitality, to discuss their plans to set up or expand in Hong Kong. She will also meet with local government organizations and business community representatives to explore collaboration opportunities for investment promotion between Hong Kong, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.
Ms. Lau will speak at two events organized by the Economist Intelligence Corporate Network in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur to provide the latest updates on the current business environment in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Director in Singapore, Mr Owin Fung, will also join the event. Before heading to Kuala Lumpur, Ms Lau will attend the FinTech Festival 2024 in Singapore.
The highlight of the visit is a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) seminar in Kuala Lumpur hosted by InvestHK and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Development Office on November 8 to encourage Malaysian companies to tap into business opportunities in the GBA via Hong Kong. The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia also co-organizes the event.
At the seminar, the Commissioner for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Ms Maisie Chan, will deliver opening remarks, followed by a keynote address from Ms Lau. Representatives of Malaysian companies established in Hong Kong and the GBA will also share their insights with the participants. The Director-General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta, Miss Libera Cheng, will also join the event.
