11th Asia and Pacific Regional Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors held today
The opening ceremony of the 11th Asia and Pacific Regional Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors was held today (Nov. 28). Chief Executive John Lee attended the event and delivered a speech.
Lee stated that prosecutors uphold the principles of fairness, justice, and the rule of law in their pursuit of justice, facing challenges without fear and dedicated to protecting the public interest. They deserve respect, and all present are also prosecutors who pursue justice and uphold the rule of law. The Department of Justice has consistently worked to maintain close cooperation with prosecutors from other regions, introducing new measures to combat various crimes and ensuring the effectiveness of prosecution. He expressed pride in Hong Kong's outstanding prosecutors and emphasized that the region will continue to pursue the highest standards of prosecution.
He mentioned that Hong Kong is an international financial center and is increasingly encountering issues related to cryptocurrency, virtual assets, and technology crimes in this rapidly evolving technological era. Hong Kong places great importance on the security of its digital infrastructure and will collaborate with other jurisdictions to meet the new challenges of the technological age. Additionally, as the only city in China that practices the common law system, Hong Kong boasts a rich pool of legal talent. The government values strengthening cooperation with various jurisdictions to jointly combat crime.
