The Transport Department announced today (Nov. 28) that Cheung Pei Shan Road towards Tsuen Kam Interchange, near Cheung Shan Estate, which was closed earlier due to emergency repairs, is now open. At the same time, part of Cheung Pei Shan Road towards Shing Mun Tunnels near Cheung Shan Estate has been opened.

At about 11:00 am yesterday, a fire broke out on Cheung Pei Shan Road near Shek Wai Kok Estate in the direction of Tsuen Wan, affecting the adjacent noise barriers and footbridge. The contractor removed the damaged noise barrier components and resurfaced the damaged road surface.

The police classified it as a case of arson. After further investigation, it is believed that the fire was caused by miscellaneous objects underneath the footbridge in Shek Wai Kok Estate, and there is no evidence to suggest that there is a criminal element involved, and an investigation is underway to find out the cause of the fire.
