Overseas travel agents: Visa-free policies greatly facilitate travel to China
The 2024 Technology Investment and Cultural Tourism Promotion Conference was held yesterday (Nov. 24) at the Lujiazui International Accounting Center in Shanghai. Many overseas travel agents attending the event gained in-depth insights into the cultural tourism resources of Shanghai, Lijiang, Hebei, and other regions. Attendees expressed that China's visa-free policy is encouraging more overseas tourists to travel to China, and they hope to further explore the charm of China's cultural tourism to create customized products for foreign visitors.
According to Roger Schofert, CEO of OBS Travel AG, China's strong push for inbound tourism development presents a great opportunity. He noted that most foreign tourists visiting China want to stay longer and see more places before leaving. "The new policy extends the visa-free duration to 30 days, which is very beneficial for those wishing to travel to China."
Anticipating Unique Chinese Travel Experiences
However, Schofert candidly stated that visa-free access is just the first step. As more foreigners come to China, he believes the focus should be on "being China." He emphasized that China must highlight its unique culinary, musical, cultural, and natural resources to attract foreign tourists.
Need for Enhanced Promotion
Jill Sinclair, CEO of Sinclair & Partners, believes that attracting more foreigners to China requires more than just visa-free policies; there must be a greater emphasis on promotion. She pointed out that foreign tourists often enjoy a dish that impresses them but are not informed about the story behind it. "If we could share more of these stories, tourists would better understand China."
Attention on "Research Study + Ecotourism"
Soumeya Nibouche Roudesli, CEO of Spanish Arab Business Ambassadors, stated that these ecotourism initiatives and the intangible cultural heritage projects she experienced should be more widely promoted to foreign tourists, allowing them to engage with these experiences when they come to China.
After concluding their trip in Shanghai, the event organizers will lead these overseas travel agents to Hebei to experience the charm of winter tourism.
