Giant pandas presented by central govt to make public debut in December, Kevin Yeung says
The Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung said in an interview with reporters after attending an event at Ocean Park today (Nov. 23) that the two giant pandas from Sichuan have been adapting well, and that the Park will arrange small-scale visits for them to get accustomed to the presence of the crowd. He expects that the two giant pandas will be officially opened to the public in December.
Yeung said, on one hand, he came to Ocean Park today for the two baby pandas that have been born in Hong Kong for 100 days, and he has just watched the live broadcast of the baby twins, who are very lively, and wished them to grow up quickly. On the other hand, today is also the day that Le Le will come to the public again.
"The authorities will seize the opportunity to join hands with Ocean Park and the Hong Kong Tourism Board to launch a promotional campaign throughout Hong Kong. He hoped to create a welcoming atmosphere for the whole of Hong Kong to attract tourists and local people," he said.
Yeung added that the giant panda presented to Hong Kong by the central government will also act as a Hong Kong tourism ambassador, visiting different places in Hong Kong to introduce different attractions.
