Macao to continue cash handouts in 2025: MOP$10,000 for permanent residents, MOP$6,000 for non-permanent residents
The Macao Special Administrative Region government announced today (Nov. 19) that it will continue its annual cash handout policy for 2025, providing MOP$10,000 to permanent residents and MOP$6,000 to non-permanent residents. This move is part of Macao's ongoing efforts to support its residents, particularly as the economy recovers from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund contributions will remain at the same level, with permanent residents aged 22 or older, who have lived in Macao for at least 185 days over the past year, receiving MOP$10,000 to open the account. An annual contribution of MOP$7,000 will also be made into the account.
The government will maintain several other financial relief measures introduced in recent years, including tax reductions, subsidies for seniors, students, public transport, and utility bills. These initiatives are part of a broader fiscal plan to allocate funds towards social welfare and economic recovery.
Macao's economic performance has shown strong recovery, with a year-on-year real growth of 11.5% in its GDP for the first three quarters of 2024, amounting to MOP$300.97 billion. Macao's fiscal reserves have also grown, reaching MOP$617 billion by the end of September 2024.
