The AI-powered application designed for automated writing assessment debuted globally today (Nov. 15) in Hong Kong. Prof. Hui Chun and Yim Chi-kin from the Business School at the University of Hong Kong, along with AI platform developer Tso Sek-kong worked together to promote the use of smart applications for writing correction, and today (Nov. 15) held a press conference and signing ceremony for the national partnership promotion.

This AI tool is being used for the first time globally to evaluate English writing in a simulated HKDSE exam. Students take an initial test, receive AI-generated feedback, and then undergo dynamic vocal training with an AI tutor. After four weeks, they take a follow-up test with similar questions. A previous trial conducted in May across 35 schools demonstrated that students showed notable improvement after repeated AI training.

Twenty secondary schools are participating in this pioneering AI-assisted HKDSE simulation, with special support from Lingnan Education Organization, which has enrolled two of its schools.

Evangel College has also initiated a network of AI learning schools, encouraging educators to integrate AI into teaching and learning practices. The platform utilizes six different AI technologies to provide intelligent feedback and training for HKDSE candidates.

The English writing assessment tool can grade 100 essays in a day, providing feedback and personalized writing improvement suggestions. The AI tutor mimics one-on-one vocal dynamic guidance, helping students improve their writing without the need for private tutoring. The platform also serves as a teaching assistant, quickly identifying students' writing issues and offering corrective and enhancement suggestions.
