Hong Kong's longest-running professional sporting event, The Link Hong Kong Open, broke new ground this year with the addition of Kipp Popert to the tournament field.
Popert is ranked No. 1 in the World Ranking for Golfers with Disability (WR4GD). He is the first golfer with a disability to compete in the 63rd edition of The Link Hong Kong Open. The 25-year-old amateur golfer from England was invited by the Hong Kong Golf Club to be a charter participant in the tournament, which is celebrating its 135th anniversary this year, marking another milestone for the club.
Popert said he is delighted to be able to participate in the 2024 The Link Hong Kong Open and is excited to have the opportunity to continue to prove to himself and others that golfers with disabilities have the ability and talent to play the game professionally, and that he is looking forward to visiting Hong Kong and interacting with the fans.
Admission to the first two days of the tournament, November 21 and 22, is free to the public, while single-day tickets for November 23 and 24 are HK$200, and four-day passes are HK$300. Persons aged 18 or below, accompanied by a ticketed adult and upon presentation of their identity cards, will be admitted free of charge throughout the event week.
