
According to reports from China News Service, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security held an expanded party committee meeting in Beijing on November 13. The meeting emphasized the severe nature of a car attack on pedestrians that occurred at the Zhuhai Sports Center in Guangdong Province, resulting in significant casualties.
The meeting stressed the need for a swift investigation to determine the facts of the case, thoroughly collect and secure evidence, and impose strict legal penalties on the perpetrator. It also highlighted the importance of collaborating with relevant departments to aid the injured and manage aftermath procedures.
Furthermore, the meeting called for a strengthened integrated operation mechanism to enhance overall social security and improve patrols in crowded areas, thereby increasing the visibility and effectiveness of law enforcement. It intends to summarize and promote successful practices and explore new strategies to combine specialized work with community engagement, thereby strengthening public safety efforts.
As of now, the incident, which occurred around 7:48 PM on November 11, has resulted in 35 fatalities and 43 injuries, with victims currently receiving medical treatment (none in critical condition).
