Sony PlayStation has officially announced that the retail edition of "Black Myth: Wukong" for PS5 will be released on Jan. 16, 2025, in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, South Korea, and several Southeast Asian countries. The edition will include a Blu-ray disc of the game and a Digital Deluxe Upgrade voucher.
While the price for the retail edition has not yet been revealed, the digital version is currently available for HK$298.
"Black Myth: Wukong" is a single-player action RPG based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. The game is available on platforms such as PS5, Steam, Epic Games Store, and WeGame. Within the first month of release, sales surpassed 20 million copies.
The total development cost for "Black Myth: Wukong" exceeded RMB 300 million, marking it as China's first true AAA single-player title. For many Chinese gamers, the game represents a breakthrough in what has long been a Western-dominated AAA game market. Since its launch on Aug. 20, 2024, the game has garnered widespread acclaim for its stunning visuals, rich storytelling, and innovative gameplay, achieving great success in the global gaming market.
