Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau will co-host the National Games for the first time next year, from November 9 to November 21.
The event's coordination office head Yeung Tak-keung told a countdown press conference that apart from hosting eight competitions, the SAR will also help organise the athletics marathon hosted by Shenzhen, and road cycling hosted by Zhuhai.
Gao Chao, the General Administration of Sport of China director, said Guangzhou and Shenzhen have finished planning for the games' opening and closing ceremonies, and that authorities are planning out the route for the torch relay.
Guangdong sports bureau director Cui Jian, meanwhile, said renovation and construction of venues in the province will be completed in March of next year.
